McAllister Woods protects woods along the Wildcat, dominated by sycamore and silver maple, as well as a typical mixed hardwood forest on higher ground. 4.4 acres of the land was farmed when the Wildcat Creek Foundation acquired the land in May of 2005 and were reforested with hardwood species.
McAllister Woods is a 24 acre property in Carroll County transferred to NICHES in summer 2013 from the Wildcat Creek Foundation. McAllister Woods is named in honor of the McAllister Foundation that has supported many conservation projects.
4.4 acres of the McAllister Woods property was enrolled in a Conservation Reserve Program as a riparian buffer in 2008 by the Wildcat Creek Foundation. Funding support came from the Indiana Heritage Trust which holds an easement on the land, McAllister Foundation, and the Roy Whistler Foundation.
