In this update, three NICHES members write articles about their experience with NICHES and staff announce the addition of new acreage to our properties. Camille Verendia, a Private Lands Biologist at the US Fish and Wildlife Service, writes an inspiring article about NICHES’ partnership with USFWS and their shared progress on restoration efforts at Farris Estate, including an overview of past projects and their successes. NICHES Executive Director Shannon Stanis announces the exciting addition of 18.44 acres to Sugar Creek in Montgomery County. Another article by NICHES Volunteer Land Steward & Hunting Crew Leader Ross Larimore discusses the crucial role of stewards at NICHES, and Steward Zach Neff reveals the findings of over 200 insect species (some rare) from an insect survey of Farris Estate.

By supporting NICHES you protect the land, water, and wildlife of west-central Indiana, and secure public access to the most unique and precious natural areas in our region.
