In this edition we reflect on the progress made in 2024 and look forward to a year full of 30th Anniversary events and celebrations. We examine the historical roots of the organization and the roles founding figures like Harry Potter, Persis Newman, George Parker, and Susan Ulrich played in establishing NICHES in 1995. We share details of our upcoming 2025 annual meeting / board slate and welcome Kendall Amodeo as our Spring Development Intern. The Howell Woods is announced as NICHES most recent preserve acquisition, this 28-acre preserve is home to some of the oldest oak, hickory, and walnut trees in Tippecanoe County and 0.4 miles of upper Little Pine Creek. These features and The Howell Woods’ proximity to NICHES’ Mulvey Pond nature preserve made this a priority project within our land and water protection strategic goals.

By supporting NICHES you protect the land, water, and wildlife of west-central Indiana, and secure public access to the most unique and precious natural areas in our region.
